Cooling Off Camping Gear

29 April, 2008 (02:36) | Hiking Gear | By: Wood Chuck

The warm weather has reminded me of how fun it is to cool off in a lake or river when camping.  As part of my camping gear, I like to take an inflatable kayak along.  It doesn’t take up much room and boy is it fun and relaxing.  Now that the snows are melting, there’s great fun in the streams.  The Stearns Kayak is a great value.

Road Safety Camping Gear

There’s nothing like getting set for the great outdoors and to have all your camping gear stuck at the side of the road with a breakdown. It’s a good idea to take along a good roadside safety kit to make sure your vacation isn’t ruined. Jumper cable, tow ropes, gloves, etc. can help get you out of hot water. Disaster survival sites often carry these kits.

Water Fun And Hauling Your Camping Gear

These lightweight kayak trailers are a good way to haul your kayaks or canoes to your favorite camping spot.  There’s also enough extra room that you can strap down some of your camping gear with the addition of a tote box.  With today’s gas prices, the lightweight aluminum of the TrailEx trailer helps a bit.

Another Classic Piece Of Camping Gear

These are finally in stock and a top seller.  The classic Svea stove is suprisingly a top seller even with all the new and fancy camping gear today.  This backpacking stove offers rugged dependability but most of all, camping nostalgia.  I’ve had people buy three at a time.

Classic Camping Gear, Backpacking Stoves

It’s been 40 years since I purchased my first Optimus Hiker and they’re still making them.  My camping gear has always included that reliable old stove with it’s familiar brass tank.  The look is slightly different today and it’s a bit easier to use multi-fuels in the backpacking stove.  It’s also the one stove we always seem to run out of and is in short supply - there are still those that grew up on this stove and keep getting it.
